A STATUE IN THE RIVER

A Two - Act full musical waiting for its first production.  Owned by Steam Train Entertainment and written by Neil Oliver Maggs, the story of the toppling of the statue of Edward Colston, in Bristol, June 2020

New songs for this show include Black Lives Matter, Say His Name George Floyd, Edward Colston Merchant Venturer, The Priti Patel Rap, Milo Sage Jake Rhian, and the title track Statue In The River.  

Featuring brand new songs, history, and so many important questions.

We remember George Floyd, murdered in the USA by a serving police officer.  We reflect on the Black Lives Matter protests.  Edward Colston himself tells us about the slave trade.  The statue is toppled, rolled through the streets, and we end up with A Statue in the River. 

Ten protesters were picked out and six were cautioned.  At a Black Lives Matter protest, the Four arrested and charged in court were all young, white people.  Why??

The trial starts and the supporters of The Colston Four discuss the possible outcomes.  Here come the verdicts - NOT GUILTY!  But...  is that right?

A play that discusses racism, whether those in authority do enough to counter racism, and should people take the law into their own hands when decisions made are seen to be so wrong.  This story has to be told, this play must be seen.
